Serving Western Washington since 1995, MDK Construction, Inc is a general contractor serving a long list of commercial, industrial, institutional, public works, and residential clients. Beginning as a small family operation MDK has grown into one of the largest and most respected contractors in the area. Our growth has been steady and well-navigated. The recent move to our new location has allowed us added efficiency with all our operations in one place.
The MDK Team
Field Staff
Our field staff generally includes between 12 and 18 full-time tradesman and laborers, and one or two - . The majority of our current field staff has been with MDK for 5-20 years. We offer health care plan and retirement benefits to
all employees. As well as staff events at 4th of July and Christmas.
Subcontractors
In addition to our full-time staff, MDK Construction counts our core subcontractors as important members of our team. We cannot place enough value on these relationships with other local contractors whose specialties allow us a level of flexibility, expertise, and manpower that is difficult to maintain in a full-time stable staff. These successful relationships allow us to successfully schedule and complete projects on time and on schedule with the quality MDK's reputation demands.
We maintain a database of over 100 subcontractors, vetted annually for licensing, insurance, and compliance with DOR, LNI, and Prevailing Wage requirements.

Michael Koidahl Owner,
President, and Co-Founder
Mike Koidahl started MDK in 1995 in partnership with his father, Donald and mother, Gloria. Mike took over
leadership of the company in 2014 and full ownership in 2017. Mike's leadership creates a culture of excellence in service to our customers, and with deep commitment to our community. Mike presently serves on the Olympia Master Builders Board of Directors representing the Lewis County Branch.
Steve Barnett
Sales Manager
Steve joined MDK in 2012. He brings over 30 years of experience in construction management throughout West Coast. Beginning in construction as a General Superintendent, Steve has since served construction companies throughout the West Coast as Estimator, General Manager, Project Manager, Sales Manager, and Vice President. Steve holds numerous certifications in construction management and specialty software, always adding to his skill base in evolving processes and technologies.
Steve Barnett
Project Manager
Steve heads the project management team utilizing cradle-to-grave approach - from sales through project
completion with support of in-house Project Manager, Drafters, and Superintendents.
Ann Farner
Admin/Accounting
With MDK since 2015, Ann brings over 25 years of experience with accounting, contract compliance and
administration, human resources, and professional construction office protocols and processes.
MDK Commitment to Safety
We take construction safety seriously here at MDK. Our Washington State Labor and Industry audited Safety
Manual and Accident Protection Plan provide comprehensive safety guidance to MDK staff, and are
constantly updated as conditions and state and national OSHA standards change.
